ON FORM LEICESTER, CHARLOTTE - 16.08.04 |
|||||||||||||||
For a moment there’s a lack of movement on stage. Steven stares at Dan, who it turn stares directly at the floor, both with incredible intensity. Intensity that can only derive from the kind of emotion you feel when you really believe in what you’re doing. Cat On Form certainly do. They don’t just make music, they’re sending a message too. It isn’t complicated or clever but so obvious we should already know it. The message is that the world is full of mass produced crap that distorts our view of life, or at least that’s how I interpret it. Interpretation is key, no-one wants someone else’s ideas forced down their throat. Cat On Form simply present their view and leave it up to you to have an opinion. The music itself is loud and abrasive, two sweaty boys screaming into their microphones for the seconds they are forced to stand still. Cat On Form’s live performances are without limits and constantly expanding only confined by the space they currently occupy. Pushing the boundaries between audience and band so far that the line is blurred beyond existence. This is how gigs should be. It’s not about rock stars and money anymore, it never was to the people who mattered. It’s about looking out for each other and striving towards the same goals. Review by Barry Bennett |
