|||||||||||||||||
It's been a long day. It's 10pm, and I've been here since 3, because this is an all day Best of Local bands type gig (even though Do Me Bad Things played, and I'm pretty sure they're not from Bristol). So, when it's time for Chikinki, a lot of people are either very tired or very drunk, but no matter. I've experienced Chikinki live before, and they just ooze energy, and everything about them is sexy, especially the music. But anyhow, back to the review. Chikinki saunter on in true rock-star style...kind of. Well they sauntered on anyway, and as the music starts up, you can feel every beat of the bass drum shatter through |

your skull, and every note played on synth's/keyboards makes you hair stand on end.When you see Chikinki live, you are truely in the music, surrounded by it. There's also lots for you to watch too, whether it's Steve beating the crap out of the drums, Boris flinging himself around, Ed's rock star guitar posing, Trevor's cool keyboard playing or Rupert's great, if not rather camp, dancing. Set highlight for me was 'Sacrifice A Child', perhaps because watching Rupert smack an electronic drum pad (was it one of |

them? I can't tell) is highly enteraining. With live performances like this, it's hard to fathom why they're not as big as they should be. Review and photos by Jackie Barker More photos from this gig can be seen here |
