>IKARA COLT

With the seemingly incessant wave of identikit garage punks currently spreading across the nation's music press like a denim clad rash, we've never needed Ikara Colt more. Luckily for us, they're back, with a new bassist and a new single, the ferocious 'Wanna Be That Way'. Frontman Paul Resende took the time to answer a few of our questions:

>What have you been up to since you finished touring Chat & Business?
We did loads of touring for the album and it seems like we've been away for years, but as soon as we got back from tour we went straight into writing and recording the

new album (recorded winter 2003).

>What can we expect from the new album?
First album we kinda didn't know what we were doing it was our first time in the studio, but this time round we know what we're doing, but it's still got a rawness about it, and I think the songs are better.

>What inspires you to make music?

IKARA COLT ARE:
Paul Resende - Vocals
Claire Ingram - Guitar
Dominic Young - Drums
Tracy Bellaries - Bass
John Ball - Bass (2000-2003)

Tricky one that, I suppose Ijust feel like everyone else: banging my head against the

wall.

>Are there any bands, past or current that you feel a
kinship or shared vision with?

I like the bands that go against the grain do there own thing, not formed out of homage to another band.

> You've always had a reputation as a great live band,
do you prefer playing live to recording?

I prefer live, don't know what the rest think though.

>How important is the look of the band, whether it be on stage, or videos & art work?
I'd be lying if I said image didn't help any band.

>How did you find (new bassist) Tracy?

Friend of a friend, don't like auditions

>Are there any up & coming bands that you'd like to recommend?
Lightning Bolt.

>What are your plans for the upcoming months?
