I adored how Ross Collins captures the expressions on the befuddled animals’ faces as their hear mouse’s descriptions of them.

There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. My favorite part is when the mouse is saying, incorrectly, the names of other animals for example, for snake he says, "Thin.

The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books "The sentences are short and simple, making an amusing read-aloud for young children or early elementary students . He proudly stands there, arms folded with a convincing air but when challenged by a ring-tailed lemur and a fox that tigers are bigger and more ferocious than him he realises that perhaps he is not a tiger after all. The titular "tiger" of Newson and Collins' imaginative tale may have been born a mouse, but it's a mouse made up of equal parts imagination and chutzpah. He went on to study illustration at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1994 and in the same year he won the Macmillan Children’s Book Prize for the The Sea Hole .

Ross: It’s either when very occasionally I make myself laugh with something I’ve drawn or more often when I just slightly change the way a character is standing or looking and it alters the whole tone of the piece – it’s amazing what you can do with a little line. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!The lively illustrations and the mouse's confidence and ability to run circles around the other animals with his logic made me smile and reminded me of certain political figures.

After identifying the other animals as something other than what they are, based on their characteristics, the mouse sallies forth to catch his lunch. Mouse says tigers can be small; some have stripes but this one doesn’t (“so there”); and Mouse could definitely climb a tree (but not right now). I started small, with a mouse, and I knew that for it to work Mouse had to believe she was something much bigger and louder in colour and voice and character. The animals’ expressions are brilliant, the humour cleverly plays on the reader’s insider knowledge about the animals from the pictures, and there’s an extra twist at the end.The illustrations pop off of the page because of the bright, contrasting backgrounds, and it makes the images very clear and defined. A deliciously playful fantasy tells how an audacious and ebullient mouse identifies himself as being something very much more than he is. I think that this should be a must have book for any and all parents to add to their child’s home library.

Both the boys regularly “charge” at us pretending to be rhinos and my eldest even went through a phase of being a woodpecker. Children will love the confident little mouse and his ability to make ludicrous claims and stand by them. And how you feel can fit a time and a mood and a place – it can change… make it work for you when you need it. We have the main character, drawn as a mouse, who is slowly convincing the other animals they are a tiger. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).The character of Mouse is unforgettable, as are the faces of the bemused animals he leaves in his wake. I'm a Tiger ILLUSTRATOR : Liv Wan Find out which jungle animals are hiding in this colourful, interactive lift-the-flap children’s board book with a surprise ending. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic!
