Similarly, she welcomes the opening up of discussion around the menopause. “It used to be a dirty word and something to fear, but midlife now isn’t what it used to be. I have a picture of my grandmother at 45 and she looks like an old lady.” This is a new favourite and one I could definitely listen to again as it made me smile so much. Alexandra Potter has created a wonderful character in Nell Stevens someone women of any age can identify with. Brilliantly written, extremely relatable, honest, full of humour and totally uplifting, Everyone needs to read this (you don’t have to be forty-something) and realise it’s never too late to change what you don’t like in your life and their are tons of women dealing with the same thoughts and feelings.

This is what we all want and this is what I try to do when my mum friends talk to me about their problems. I don’t give advice (what would I know about raising a child?), I don’t act as if it’s I had not heard of this author, and it was a 'stumble across' as I browsed an interstate catalogue (the perks of working in a library, and knowing where to look for the location of a book, Australia wide). BorrowBox is great!

It’s rare for any book to actually make me laugh out loud like this one did (more than once) and for a book to resonate on so many levels with me. In books, TV shows and films, everything is dialled up to be fantasy, the perfect wife/husband, the perfect children, the perfect house, the perfect figure, the perfect job, the perfect life. But in real life, no relationship, no friendship, no sex, no job is perfect. Whilst I'm aware this book is also a fiction and should be a fantasy, it really holds a mirror up to us as a society. It talks about the negatives of being a woman in society, making it so familiar and relatable, but shows that you don't have to be perfect to be perfect.

The thing is, no matter how settled you think you are, life always has alternative plans, and Nell's life is no different.More Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up" by Alexandra Potter is an absolute gem that had me hooked from the very beginning. Having thoroughly enjoyed the first installment, I was eager to dive into Nell's world once again, and I can confidently say that this sequel did not disappoint. Potter's portrayal of Nell, a never-married, childless, forty-something podcaster and obituary writer, is both hilarious and relatable. No old lady hair’ should have been included in our wedding vows as my husband has made me promise this on numerous occasions. 🤣 ——‘I might be in my eighties but I’m not having a cauliflower head….That’s what my friend Una called old lady hair. At my age you have to on guard against a short curly perm.’

In this hilarious, un-put-downable follow-up to the bestselling Confessions of a Forty-Something F ## k Up , now the basis for the major TV series, Not Dead Yet , there are laugh-out-loud lessons to be learned, truths to be told, adventures to go on and joys to discover. First of all, to be fair to the author, she doesn’t go down the whole probably won’t have children, but might just save it at the last minute (!) and pop one out route. And you have to respect that.

Told with laugh out loud humor and the perfect wit Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up is the perfect book for any woman (or man) whether young or old that feels like she isn’t enough or in the right place in her life.

One is the “relationship” with the hot dad/uncle. I felt there could have been more added to Nell & Johnny’s story and I was disappointed by the outcome. Nell handled it very mature which on one hand was great but I wanted it handled in the “Nell” way. It was just cut too short and tied in too neat a bow. not a big deal and I don’t say, ‘it’s just a question of perspective, just be positive!’ Because it’s not helpful. Same thing with Nell and Annabel’s feud. It was resolved instantly and I wanted it handled differently or a different outcome somehow. I guess I just felt like it was also done too neatly. PDF / EPUB File Name: More_Confessions_of_a_Forty-Something_Fk_Up_-_Alexandra_Potter.pdf, More_Confessions_of_a_Forty-Something_Fk_Up_-_Alexandra_Potter.epub Sally Philipps narration was absolutely perfect! Her voice was so easy to listen to and she made me laugh so much especially when Nell was being snarky or sarcastic. She made the book a real joy to listen to and she has definitely been added to on my favorite narrators list!Duchov a tiene netreba zamiesť pod koberec," prízvukuje mi, "ale poriadne si na nich posvietiť. Nesmiete žiť v minulosti."
