Someone visits Katherine, an FBI agent. She broke protocol to help Peter find his online harasser. The mystery visitor is here to tell her that he or she killed Henry. He or she asks Katherine for the other names she found. Katherine gives him the names and is also murdered. (We’re now calling this person the Mystery Killer.) Wilde learns an important new fact about Peter He and his loyal new friends Ema and Spoon however find themselves caught up in the mystery involving the shooting of their friend Rachel. This was hard to put down. Over half way the chapters start to end with cliffhangers, it's been a while where I had the feeling where I just need to keep reading! Just when it seems as though things can’t possibly get any worse than they already have, Marc receives a ransom note with a chilling message:

I think that this chart might better reflect Harlan Coben’s explanation. That would mean that Shirley and Sofia are not sisters, but perhaps that Shirley is Sofia’s aunt? Ten years ago, kidnappers, who had abducted two boys from well-to-do families, demanded ransom before suddenly going silent. For an entire decade, their families were left with nothing save for agonizing memories, with no trace of the boys ever surfacing.

There’s even more to watch.

Wilde's investigations are interspersed with chapters about 'Boomerang', a very secretive group of computer experts/vigilantes who target online trolls. This is the second book with MMC 'Wilde' and whilst I'd read the first, I don't recall it clearly because it was ages ago so this could be read as a standalone for sure. For Will Klein, Ken-his older brother-was always his hero when they were growing up. But when a young woman, who Will once loved, is found heinously murdered in their lavish New Jersey neighborhood, his older brother becomes the primary suspect in the act. Things go horribly wrong for Dr. Marc Seidman, almost too bad to believe. Marc lies in bed after being shot twice by an unidentified assailant; his wife has been murdered, and his six-month-old daughter, missing. Criminal attorney Hester Crimstein however makes it her mission to find the girl, enlisting the help of Wilde who can’t ignore an outcast in trouble.

Myron is determined to help Jeremy, but finding the vanished donor would translate to opening up dark mysteries involving a broken family, a heinous kidnapping splurge and the FBI.I couldn't put this book down. It filled the void when I didn’t have WiFi, and that says a lot ! The ending was awesome, but it did leave me with some questions that I hope will be answered in the next book featuring Wilde’s character. I loved loved loved this one. The characters here are fantastically written. Wilde is a fascinating character and I cant think of one character in the book that wasnt very well written. The story also is beautifully paced with plenty of twist and turns along the way. This book never get boring. Misfortune however strikes their trip, as Elizabeth is abducted, murdered, and her body dumped in a ditch. Although her killers were caught and brought to book, for David, there could possibly be no closure. The Match' (Wilde, #2) is even better (imho) than 'The Boy from the Woods' (Wilde, #1). I highly recommend reading book #1 first since this is its continuation and would be very difficult to understand if you do not. Have to admit I was sad when Coben decided to part ways with Myron Bolitar (my favorite character ~ read every novel in that series!).

Why doesn’t Silas recognize Sofia in the picture? Yes, the photo was from before he was born, but wouldn’t he still recognize her? Wilde is looking to maybe find out more about his family after being abandoned in the woods from as long as he can remember and all the while, falls into links to a number of murders. Everything that I took issue with in The Boy from the Woods was made up for in this one. Wilde’s character is fully formed and has some depth, and the mystery is compelling. Even better was that my armchair detective skills failed me. There were many twists and turns and surprises. Even though the identity of the killer is somewhat predictable, I was still surprised by the reveal. Of course, if you know Coben, you know it is not simply getting from point A to B. There is so much in between. We get to catch up with Hester Crimstein, an attorney from previous books (love), and other characters from previous books.Myron Bolitar, a sports agent and occasional investigator, is summoned by Clip Arnstein, the owner of the New Jersey Dragons, following the mysterious disappearance of star player Greg Downing. It’s one of the DNA matches here that sets Wilde on the path of a missing relative and gets him embroiled in a world far removed from his own – that of reality TV and influencers and online / social media bullying and trolls. So when he stumbles upon Todd’s obituary, he can’t help but attend the funeral. While hoping to catch a glimpse of Todd’s wife, he realizes that the mourning widow—who has been married to the deceased for more than a decade—isn’t Natalie! Wilde heads downtown to meet his “father.” A woman named Danielle shows up saying she’s a retired police officer representing “RJ.”
