ARSENAL LEGEND turned TV pundit Alex Scott is to give an insight into her life and career in a new book.

Alex has been through so much throughout her life and I commend the vulnerability she has shown in this memoir. In How (Not) To Be Strong, Alex shares the lessons that have shaped her, from finally confronting the legacy of a tumultuous childhood to the tarnished truth behind the gleaming football trophies. I am not usually someone who gets stuck into a book but this autobiography is honest, tender and written with courage. This is a wonderful read to learn so much more behind the Arsenal beauty, how much hardship and difficulty she faced growing up, and how she continues to face horrible online trolls.I love playing (I play twice a week these days, despite my advancing age) and I want more people to be able to experience that joy if they are interested in playing. She retired from international football in 2017, though not before representing Great Britain in the Olympics.

She explores the reality of growing up on a council estate in the 1990s, digging into her family heritage, the highs and lows of being a professional athlete, dealing with trolling, her Strictly Come Dancing experience and taking the leap into presenting. But thanks to a 'push-through mentality' the world has only ever seen the 'strong' side of Alex Scott. Alex revealed she has only recently learned how to be vulnerable and open about her challenging experiences from her past. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Her excitement was infectious - she had played with some of these players, back when she had to work in the laundry at Arsenal (the same club she played for! Her personal journey is empathetic and will sadly be a relatable in places for many readers, but the difficulties are tempered by Scott’s good-natured determination to take life on and win. But thanks to her 'push-through mentality' the world has only ever seen the 'strong' side of her persona. This isn’t, however, just a book about a women who was the best in the world at her position in a sport.

There was this underlying current that, somehow, playing in America meant we were getting too big for our boots.I have no interest in football whatsoever but reading Alex Scott's life In the game has changed my mind. You can also listen on any Alexa-enabled device, compatible Fire tablets, Kindles, Sonos devices and more. But thanks to a ‘push-through mentality’ the world has only ever seen the ‘strong’ side of Alex Scott. About a teen who needed a different kind of support in school that she eventually found while pursuing her degree at university.
