I’ve reviewed and read so many bad Harley comics, I started to think no one could write the character anymore. I now see that the people who know how to write the character are RIGHT HERE! They just have to be given more of a chance. Dal punto di vista grafico, si poteva fare di meglio, ma qui entra in gioco il gusto verso un disegnatore.

Through this story, we get a natural and HONEST exploration of the matter of Harley trying to make up for her mistakes from the past. Gordon is portrayed very much in character as someone who would have a hard time ever forgiving Harley. Harley, however, is portrayed as someone who is going to have an even harder time ever forgiving herself. Hello? Is that character depth I see for Harley Quinn? Finally?!? Longtime friends Dini and Mandel talked to DC Nation about their contributions to the series and the enduring, ever-evolving versatility of Harley Quinn. Is this a perfect story? No. For me it fell a tiny bit flat at the end. I thought the story was building to deliver a deeper message about how our past scars make us who we are and that we can’t erase the past. Instead, it just ends on a note that Harley needs to keep being who she is regardless of what people think about her. All of this is clearly a meta-commentary on the fact that there are many fans out there who can’t stop defining Harley by her time spent with the Joker, and can’t accept the modern independent version. (This commentary comes off as observational rather than mean-spirited). I’d like to just offer my two cents on that: Is Growth and Change Always Good? The medieval artwork was well-detailed and nice to look at, however. I just wish it wasn’t wasted on this story. Both of your contributions to the anthology have a holiday theme. What can you share about how these short stories developed? David Mandel: I moved out to LA in ’95, and I went to work on Seinfeld. I think (we met) that year or later that year.

I am writing this review in a place of despair for DC Comics. Their comics have sunk down to the lowest quality I have ever seen them, EVER. It used to be that you could at least count on the main Batman ongoing to be decent, but after the nonsensical Gotham War event, that is no longer true. Readers aren’t happy. Shops are closing. Sales are so low that neither DC (or Marvel for that matter) will show us actual numbers. Gee, Harley's getting a bunch of pre-pubescent girls to dress up and act like her? I'm sure that's going to go well with no psychological damage whatsoever. And an old college buddy? Why not just throw a high school reunion while we're at it? But hey, the icing on the apocalyptic cake is the fear of Harley's favorite show being halted due to petty alien invasion. Priorities, right?Harley Quinn is a character that I learned about in recent years, always full of surprises and with an unpredictable character. I like that Harley's human side is again highlighted and her being a psychologist is given due and discussed. There is tidbits of stories and follow ups from Harleen that see maybe like the seeds of more stories- so here's to hoping. Stjepan Sejic is a genius with his drawing and his placement and layout of panels are brilliant and poignant and the introduction of colour into the story is powerful and beautiful.
