About this deal

Gradually mix in steadily more Evil Sunz Scarlet and layer up each time until it’s nearly pure Evil Sunz Scarlet, gradually getting further and further from the recesses After this, we go to our base coating, which is pretty simple. I hit the flesh with Rakarth Flesh for a nice pale gray tone. I go for Naggaroth Night for my purples, Leadbelcher for the silvers, and Zandri Dust for my bones. I start dark on my little evil Drukhari tubes all over the model with Dark Angel Green and hit the tabard with Bugmans Glow . Finally, the pants get a coat of Dryad Bark . The end result is a nice jumping off point for where we want to go with this model. I want the wings to be much more muted and less saturated, so I start by washing them a few times with Nuln Oil, doing more layers toward the base of the wings, and going lighter toward the edges, to give the wings a bit of a fade as they go out. The final step on the necron themselves is to do the extreme edge highlights, I used a common colour for each of metallics and conventional paints to help tie them all together.

Normally I use something like basilicanum on metals, but I wanted a very clean and bright silver metal which nuln over iron hands steel gave nicely. Note that you could skip the rakarth highlight on the cloth as it is fairly subtle in the final result. Once the main colours are done, I finish up the greens. Most of the green is started from a couple of thin coats of Moot Green. For cables and orbs I then wash towards the connection points with Biel Tan Green which is left to dry and then another coat of thinned Moot Green is used to blend the edges away from where the shade has dried. If you wish to highlight this a little further, a mix of Moot Green and Yriel Yellow in a 3:1 ratio works well. In their earliest incarnations, Necrons were a simpler force, consisting primarily of robots clad in metal bodies with little adornment. As the faction has been revised, they’ve become more elaborate, and subfactions that call for different color schemes have emerged, creating a good deal of variety in the way you can paint them. In terms of building the models, things were pretty easy going, but there are a couple of takeaways I’d want to use if I was doing them again:

When Dominion dropped earlier this year, I was hype as hell for the new range of Stormcast. In place of the big fat babymen of AoS’ launch, we had these statuesque spearmen, chariots, and big honkin angel ladies. These models screamed “Ancient Greece” to me, and not just because I’m going through a Greekaboo phase with Goonhammer favorite Hades and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I also wanted to get away from the typical blue and gold of the Hammers of Sigmar to really make this army my own. I hope you like painting metallics, because there’s going to be a lot of that with Stormcast Eternals. The good news is there’s also a lot of freedom in how you paint them, but you’ll want to make scheme decisions that take into account the fact that they’re primarily metallic. Silks’ Method The Novokh Dynasty are close combat monsters on the battlefield, and are visually distinct with a striking red color scheme that uses splashes of white.

I started with a subtle zenithal base coat of Vallejo Orange Fire over Vallejo Light Red, you could probably just use straight Orange Fire but it does result in a slightly richer colour and the difference is quite obvious when placed next to a mini without it.Once I’ve got the gold and bone details laid down, I wash both with Agrax Earthshade. It’s a pretty liberal application. The more you add, the older and more tarnished the metal will look. I also wash the axe blades with Nuln Oil at this point and paint the armor straps with Mournfang Brown.
