Elite Army: Heads the Sanguinary Guard, the Chapter's elite troops and successor to Sanguinius' bodyguard. The Blood Angels will spare no effort to attain the material needed to create the Chapter's art and have even fought wars to obtain them. This includes Bloodstone gems, from the deep caves of the Cruor Mountain on Baal and the larvae of the Spinewyrm fauna. Bloodthirsty sand clams are also needed, as the white pigment used to paint the Chapter's angel wings, can only be obtained by crushing clams' shells. [57c] Tactics Following his ascension to become the lord regent of the Imperium Nihilus, Dante used his new authority over the Imperial forces in his half of galaxy to organise an Imperial counter-offensive to retake the Red Scar region from tendrils of the Tyranids' Hive Fleet Leviathan. This campaign was known as the Angel's Halo. Blood Dragons, [57a] Blood Drinkers, [4l] Blood Eagles, [61] Blood Legion, [7] Blood Scythes, [57a] Blood Swords [5] [7] [8] [4l] [Conflicting sources], Blood Templars, [36c] Blood Wings, Brothers of Jarad, Brothers of the Red, [21] Burning Blood All Chapters descended from the Blood Angels maintain units of Sanguinary Guard as a legacy of their parent Legion, and all follow the same color scheme except for the Angels Encarmine, whose Sanguinary Guard wear alabaster-white colored armour instead. [4n] Deathstorm Strike Force

Redemptor Dreadnought [10 PL, 190pts]: 2x Storm Bolters, Macro Plasma Incinerator, Onslaught Gatling Cannon [5pts], Redemptor Fist With each new bloody victory, the dire legends that surrounded the IXth grew and spread. They became spectres that haunted the wild places of the Great Crusade, the terrors loosed by the Emperor to clear his path across the stars. The IXth accepted this duty with a grim pride, never shirking in the mantle that they wore. Each campaign was undertaken with a quiet, brooding hunger for blood and death that was as terrifying as it was effective. They fought without mercy and paid no heed to anything other than the destruction of the enemy. Shunned and isolated from the wider Imperium, they began to descend into charnel cults and bloody rituals. Various Red Cults formed as the Legion was broken apart by the widening Crusade, and their brutality attracted censure at places such as Yarant. They began to only maintain line infantry and jump troops, in part due to the reluctance of the Imperium to supply them with more advanced weapons. [44c] M41: Seeking revenge for the Brothers who died in the Secoris Tragedy in 996. M40 during a battle with Genestealers, over eighty members of the Blood Angels First Company under the command of Captain Michaelus Raphael boarded the Space Hulk Sin of Damnation and utterly destroyed the aliens. Warhammer Community: Blood of Baal Chapter Focus: The Blood Angels (Posted November 25 2019) (Last accessed 11/25/2019) Devastation of Baal (ca.999.M41) - With the arrival of Roboute Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade in the midst of the massive temporal distortions caused by the birth of the Great Rift, the Blood Angels and their Successor Chapters are successful in fending off the great assault of Hive Fleet Leviathan upon their homeworld of Baal. The remainder of the Leviathan is largely consumed by a Warp storm and a great assault of Khornate Daemons led by the Blood Angels' most ancient foe, the Bloodthirster Ka'bandha. The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. Clarion Dawn — Death Company Stormraven Gunship, took part in the Diamor Campaign on the planet Amethal. [37b] The Warhammer Community Podcast: Episode 12 – Space Marine Successor Chapters (Last accessed on 27 August 2020) So Commander Dante, Azrael, Farsight, and a new named Daemon Prince model that we assume is Vashtorr? That’s a strong list that will get fans all Warhammer 40k factions hype once they roll around (if the rumors turn out to be true)! We’re going to keep this section a little shorter than normal, since Blood Angels have so many unique units of their own and, frankly, what is going to be good from the base Marine codex is obvious for them. Let’s all say it together: Vanguard Veterans, Bladeguard Veterans, Assault Intercessors, Incursors. Anything that wants to punch the other guy in the face benefits from the Blood Angels’ key offering of “punch them in the face, harder.” If you’re looking to go at least a little off-piste, then Redemptor Dreadnoughts are definitely worth a look in BA too – though they don’t get a ton out of the stratagems or relics here, they offer both decent melee and meaningful shooting, they’re tough, and of course they’re CORE. +1 to wound from the Red Thirst means that they wound anything in the game on 2s, too. They’re also a good target for Wisdom of the Ancients in a list without a Librarian Dreadnought. Playing Blood Angels

The Black Rage

Blood Angels get a slightly reduced set of stratagems compared to other Chapter supplements, since they have to make space for the Flesh Tearers to get a couple of their own. The list is as follows: Battle Tactics Today, as adherents of the Codex Astartes, the Blood Angels divide their battle brothers among the chapter into companies. There are 10 companies in the Blood Angels and each one is led by a Captain who is guarded by elite veterans known as the Honour Guard. [3] The only exceptions to the Codex structure allowed by the Blood Angels and its Successors are the Sanguinary Guard [4j] and the Death Company. [Needs Citation] Incursor [84pts]: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades, 4x Occulus bolt carbine, 4x Paired combat blades Icon of the Angel. Gives a 6″ aura allowing BLOOD ANGELS units to re-roll charge rolls. Solid bread and butter stuff, boosting your ability to get into combat, and helpful for not being restricted to CORE. Comboing this with a Chaplain to give re-rollable charges at +2 to charge makes for a very reliable punch. A Like an angel of vengeance came the Primarch Roboute Guilliman, now the Lord Commander of the Imperium and his Indomitus Crusade. After many more battles, Baal was finally cleared of the xenos threat. A great rebuilding of both world and Chapter was undertaken, for the Blood Angels and their successors were sorely needed elsewhere in the beleaguered Imperium. What became of the Leviathan is a mystery, although a clue was found upon the now-barren moon of Baal Prime. Xenos skulls were piled impossibly high in the much-reviled, eight-pillared symbol of one of the Blood Angels' most terrible and ancient nemeses: the Bloodthirster Ka'Bandha and his army of Khornate daemons.

Azkaellon — Herald of the Sanguinary Guard during the Horus Heresy, who eventually supervised the division of the Blood Angels Legion into Chapters [4j] [20a] Nassir Amit — Captain of the Fifth Company, later founder and first Chapter Master of the Flesh Tearers [20c] The Blood Angels were created from the genetic material of their Primarch, Sanguinius. As with all of the Primarchs, Sanguinius was genetically engineered to be a supreme super-soldier but was cast into the warp during his infancy along with his brothers, and found on the nuclear-blasted moon of Baal Secundus. [4c] Determinator: He believes that he has lived far longer than he should. The only reason he keeps fighting is his faith in the Emperor, and his unwavering belief that one day, he will be the golden warrior of a prophecy that will stand between the Emperor and the darkness. Gehenna Campaign (955.M41) - Lord Commander Dante and the 3rd Company battle against the Necron Legions of the Silent King amidst the dusty wastes of Gehenna. For three solar weeks, neither side can seize the upper hand, with Dante's tactical brilliance stretched to its limits in countering the time-space manipulations of the Silent King. The stalemate is broken only when a Tyranid splinter fleet enters orbit, forcing the two armies to break off hostilities and fight the common foe. The impromptu alliance proves to be the Tyranids' undoing. Following the final battle at Devil's Crag, Dante and the Silent King go their separate ways, both forces now too battleworn to guarantee victory over the other, and, at least for the Blood Angels, the idea of turning on those they had so recently fought alongside, a rather distasteful one.Adamantine Mantle. Lets a model ignore wounds on a 5+. A solid boost in durability for a character, and best on characters who don’t benefit from taking artificer armour. B Incorruptible Pure Pureness: It's said that each Primarch inherited a trait from their father–Rogal, his determination; Magnus, his potent psychic powers; Horus, his ambition; etc.–and it's generally agreed that Sanguinius inherited The Emperor's Humanity. Warhammer Community: New Warhammer 40,000: The Indomitus Crusade & the Dark Imperium (originally posted 16/05/2017) (last accessed 30th September 2023) At the end of the vigil, the remaining aspirants are offered a chalice (rumoured to contain a small portion of Sangunius's own blood) by the Sanguinary Priests. After partaking it, they fall into a coma and are entombed by the Blood-Servitors inside the caskets of the Hall of the Sacrophagi. They remain there for a full year, in full care of the casket's life-support systems, while they are injected with blood of the Sanguinius. Many die, incapable of bearing the vast changes wrought upon them by the gene-seed; others wake up too early and grow insane from their dark and claustrophobic existence. The ones who completely adapt, however, become the newest additions to the chapter. [11] Equipment Commander Luis Dante is the Lord of the Host and Bringer of Sanguinius' Light. A golden angel descending from the skies, bringing hope to the loyal citizens of the Imperium. Alive for more than one and a half millennia, Dante possesses the experience of war unlike any other non-Dreadnought Space Marine.

M38: The Siege of Balle Alpha — The Blood Angels arrived to save the beleaguered world from an Ork Waaagh!. [71]Commander Dante [9 PL, 1CP, 165pts]: Frag & Krak grenades, Inferno pistol, The Axe Mortalis, Warlord [1CP] Inceptor Squad [7 PL, 180pts]: 2x Inceptor [80pts], Inceptor Sergeant [40pts], Plasma Exterminator x2 [60pts] Even more, such is his skill and power, that when making a Feel No Pain save, he will only fail one time out of six. Forlorn Fury – 1CP/2CP –Use at the start of the first battle round, before the first turn begins. One DEATH COMPANY unit can make a Normal Move, to a maximum of 12″, but must end more than 9″ from enemy models. DREADNOUGHT models or units of 6+ pay 2CP, units of 5 or fewer pay 1. This was erratad to be once per game again, which is probably fair. It’s also worth pointing out that you don’t get a 12″ move with any unit – you get a regular move using your Movement characteristic capped at 12″. A strong stratagem for rushing Death Company up and into the fight as fast as possible and controlling space – just don’t let yourself get penned in by Nurglings or something. A The Sanguinor — A mysterious and myth-enshrouded figure that appears to aid the Blood Angels during times of need [4k]
