Description

We were a little skeptical, but the magic sleepsuit continued to work and we have continued to sing it’s praises since. As long as you use the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit correctly – it is safe to use. Be sure to use the safe sleep guidelines set out by the American Academy of Pediatrics: After a bath, we put on a fresh diaper, some lavender lotion and jammies. I put the boys into the sleeping suit after this, as sometimes they would get sleepy after they finished their bottle. And what’s most interesting, perhaps, is that Merlin also weighs less (by percentage) than the unweighted HALO 3-way, a product with a lot of fabric due to its wings.

Typically, if babies are transitioned out of the Magic Sleepsuit when they are ready, the transition goes smoothly. The baby’s room should be at the recommended temperature — which is on the cooler side. Like with any sleep product, parents need to make sure their baby is at a comfortable temperature. We suggest just a diaper, onesie or a one layer cotton pajama. Warm. As we enter the cold months, here in Minnesota, we are all about the warmth. The sleepsuit keeps our guy warm through the night. This pro for us could be a con depending on where you live and the temperature of your house. It’s important to ensure that your baby’s room temperature is comfortable to prevent overheating no matter where you live. If it works it’s magic on your baby and you both love it, then getting another is a great option for when you need to wash the sleep suit or for traveling. Can You Use The Magic Sleepsuit Before 3 Months?

Our Other Essential Baby Travel Items To Help Baby Sleep Were:

Due to the structure of the sleep suit, it’s usually much more difficult for a baby to roll while in merlin’s sleepsuit. The product does not contain weighted materials like poly pellets or beads—however, its multiple layers render it one of the heaviest swaddle-like products on the market. Just like swaddling, if the sleepsuit isn’t snug, it won’t do its job. However, if it’s too big, you are encroaching on safety issues, just like you would with loose blankets in the crib. Designed by a pediatric physical therapist, the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit is designed specifically to help your baby continue to get good sleep when it’s time to transition out of a swaddle. It’s available in four colors (blue, pink, cream or yellow) and two sizes (3-6 months or 6-9 months), as well as in a microfleece option or jersey cotton. I’m here to tell you that there is hope! In those early days, it can truly feel like you will never sleep again. I know it. I’ve been there. I’m coming to you from the other side of sleep training feeling refreshed and well-rested for the first time in months. I know you’ll get here too.

Baby’s typically begin to roll to their tummies between 4-6 months of age. If your baby is rolling over during floor play and in regular clothing (not in the sleepsuit), it is usually okay to continue using Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit. Honestly, the Magic Merlin Sleepsuit was the perfect option for us. Here is what we did to ensure he was extra warm (but completely safe) while camping in a bit of colder weather When we filed our patent we casted a broad net on possible variations since it was written well before our product reached the market. Our patent includes features that are not included in the Magic Sleepsuit on the market today.”Would you need a blanket in the room? If yes, your baby may benefit from a wearable blanket (no loose blankets in the crib!) When I was in those early days I felt so overwhelmed by all of the baby sleep opinions, guidelines and products floating around out there. Add in some sleep deprivation and the new staggering responsibility of taking care of this tiny human, making a decision can feel nearly impossible. I first heard about the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit from Taking Cara Babies. I adore all of Cara’s courses and really feel like they changed my life, but we’ll save that story for another day.

When it comes to the sleep department this baby gear is a must have on my list and I recommend it to all my expecting friends. As a first time, exhausted mama, I couldn’t WAIT to get Lil B into that so-called “magic sleep suit.” We then dry off, put on some lotion, a diaper and jammies. Then we lower the lights and I feed him in our recliner in our bedroom. You baby is usually large enough for the sleepsuit when they’re wearing 3-6 month clothing. While changing baby’s routine is never easy, I don’t feel like the transition out of the sleepsuit is a reason to not use it. Experts are generally concerned about the dangers of restricting an infant’s movement during sleep due to the risk of suffocation. We incorporated the Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit into our nightly routine the same way we did with their original swaddle blankets. Keeping their routine the same helped with the transition to a different kind of sleeping accessory.
