About this deal

If you are interested in the competitive standpoint, when we talk about statistics, a tremendous effort is done by Rob from the Honest Wargamer, Ziggy and Tsports Network! in the AoS Stat Centre with precious information, constantly kept up to date. Previously limited to Nagash, his Mortarchs and a select few vampire units, Deathly Invocation heals D3 wounds (or equivalent models) on Summonable units. Now it comes with every Hero unit, though it scales up in power. Key to your survival, keeping your weaker units alive. Locus of Shyish Some useful command traits options include Soul-Crushing Contempt, which gives -1 Bravery when within 3″ of the General, pairing well with Immortal Majesty. Premeditated Violence gives exploding 6s, which is always handy, though its probably going to compete with Walking Death which causes damage to convert to mortal wounds on 6s to wound!

Saving one of the best till last here in the Necromancer. Armed with his trusty staff, Deadwalker wound sponge in Undead Minions and Vanhel’s Danse Macabre you’ve got yourself a model which will appear in a lot of lists. Vanhel’s Danse Macabre being cast on a 6 means it won’t always go off but you’ll be casting it nearly every turn and it lasts until your next hero phase so you can use it with the Skeletons mentioned later to try and pre-empt the enemy coming in and regen more than you otherwise might think you’ll be able to. Grave Guard are a big winner for a returning unit, with some shuffling of profile bonuses and tidying up of warscroll rules effectively resulting in two flavours of GG: Punch very hard, or punch slightly less hard but be very tough for their cost. The double damage on 6s to wound has changed over to a flat MW in addition, and the Great Wight Blades now deal flat 2 damage. This is a classic example of a great warscroll in a vacuum, but also one that scales very well with buffs. Despite not receiving a model update with this tome, I fully expect we will see a lot of Grave Guard in the future, as they’ve managed to stay at the same price point but get even tougher and punchier in the process. Overwhelm your opponent with the explosive might of the Space Marines. This is a Battleforce that hits hard and fast thanks to a Storm Speeder and 29 Primaris Space Marines, including some fairly chunky Gravis-armoured battle brothers. So, it appears that the Lumineth Realm-Lords are really the winners of this, but everything is about equal. None of these lists are really BAD, except I don’t find any value in the Hedonites of Slaanesh. They don’t bring any of their really good-looking units to the table in these battleforces. But the other three all have a few charms. I likely won’t get any of them, but if you’re a collector, the Age of Sigmar Christmas Box is always a bonus. Soulblight Gravelords monsters are divided in two categories: the heroes that are also monsters already discussed above, and Zombie Dragon / Terrorgheist. The best version of those is actually… the Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon that since he is a hero can take also command traits, artefacts, etc. Avengorii armies can buff monsters, but is not an extremely competitive subfaction, they are there mostly to have fun with big pieces on the battlefield.A note here, the old Locus of Shyish rule is totally gone, each spell now has a bespoke ability that triggers on an unmodified 9+ to cast. Lore of the Vampires There’s nothing worse than being woken up from your nap aeons earlier than planned, which is a fact of (synthetic) life for Necrons across the galaxy. This Battleforce is especially cranky about it, and wants to put its opponents to bed with esoteric guns wielded by Lokhust Heavy Destroyers and Canoptek Doomstalkers, and the razor-sharp claws of the Ophydian Destroyers and Flayed Ones. Lady Annika, the Thirsting Blade and Kritza the Rat Prince are two melee hero’s who’ve also been added to the Roster of the Gravelords. While fantastic little models they’re really not much to write home about here. Kritza’s price point is really appealing but they’re what they are and don’t bring a lot more to the army past their combat abilities. Kritza especially might make it into some forces, just through the fact he’s a constant annoyance and won’t just leave the field.

Including a whole carnival of weird and wonderful technological enhancements, this immensely customisable box can be built in so many different ways that it would be almost impossible to list them all. Including some trusty Skitarii infantry led by a Tech-Priest Manipulus, there are four units with two build options each – Sicarians, Serberys cavalry, Ptreraxii jump infantry, and a choice of either an Ironstrider Ballistarius or a Sydonian Dragoon. The possibilities are endless. Anyway, there are 5 subfactions. As normal, it does not limit you from including anything, although some bloodlines are oriented toward a particular playstyle or grant additional battlelines. Many characters in the book are already part of a subfaction and you can include them in other stuff but they won’t gain the benefits of the legion. We’ll go over the traits of each legion and what that playstyle means, and a few choice artefacts and traits that might be worth looking at. For a full deep dive, we’ll work on a start competing within the coming weeks. Legion of Blood The vampires represent the leaders of the army as you would expect. They come in many forms and they influence which lineage you should take. The average vampire is a decent melee fighter and a single caster, not excelling in either. From one group of self-involved egotists to another, it’s the pointy-helmed Aelves of Hysh. This insufferably well-oiled Vanari Shining Host focuses on the Tyrionic half of the Realm-lords’ martial forces, bringing 23 models of archers, spearmen, and cavalry to bear with gleaming precision.Let me know what date you think in the comments, we’ll update you when we know more. Warhammer AoS 2021 Battleforce Boxes – Price & Savings Decorate your hearth with bolter, melta, and flamer, for this box has ‘em all and more. Along with a Sister Dogmata and a squad each of Battle Sisters and Celestian Sacresants, this force also includes two giant tanks that will definitely add a little spice to your holiday carnage. The army has a bit for everyone, from elite cavalry to hordes of skeletons or zombies, but the most effective way to play is to rely on its hordes, both as sacrificial pieces and as your hammer/anvil. The core gameplay is divided indeed in vampires and summonable units, setting a bit aside anything in between. Lore of the Soulblight Gravelords in Age of Sigmar

This bellicose beast-baiter is the latest addition to the vampire dynasties in Battletome: Soulblight Gravelords. This book contains extensive rules for each of the major dynasties – the feral Vyrkos, the monstrous Avengorii, and noble Kastelaii, and the esteemed Legions of Blood and Night. On top of that, there’s also a Warscroll for the Askurgan Trueblades, the ascetic vampires found Bloodhunt, the most recent expansion for Warcry. Although it’s a fantastic set of miniatures, they will only net you an average 33% discount overall – which still makes them the second highest savings made in the group. We’ll be taking a look at their updated rules in the future – so keep a bloodshot eye on Warhammer Community for more necromantic news. Of these you’ll take the collar if you take anything, but I wouldn’t blame you for starting to look really hard at the arcane tome right about now. Grand Strategies The Warhammer Vault is also getting spooky as the lore from Malign Portents is conjured into digital format, alongside White Dwarf 467, from August this year which goes deep on the design of Dominion, as well as rules for frostbitten battles between Hive Fleet Leviathan and the Dark Krakens in Flashpoint Octarius.

Gravesites

This initially looks like a big downgrade for Vyrkos but holistically this subfaction has substantially improved and can run a downright nasty aggressive infantry build. Battle Traits The artefacts continue to be stand out, with Sword of the Red Seneschals adding +1 to wound for units within 12″ of the bearer if they slew a model this turn, Bloodsaint’s Shield giving -1 to Casting within 6″ and Fragment of the Keep giving the enemy -1 to wound within 6″. All around really good artefacts here, Kastelai is a strong contender for second place. Especially since many will want to run those gorgeous new Blood Knights that came out. Avengorii Dynasty This army is the successor of the previous Legions of Nagash, a placeholder “soup” battletome that contained all Death units not gathered in other battletomes. It differs from Legions as a few units have been removed, some added, and most received new sculpts, but the core and playstyle of the army remain really similar. The Revenant Legion is headed up by a bloodthirsty Vengorian Lord and a cadre of noble Blood Knights who lead bone-crushing charges as their foes are swarmed by hordes of freshly risen skeletons and zombies. This box makes it easier than ever to gorge yourself on the blood of your foes.
