They said that if the proposal – which also involves some standardisation of working practices across its six depots – is accepted, drivers will be guaranteed a further inflation linked pay increase next year. Unite regional officer, Dave Telford, added: "Go Ahead can afford to pay their workers properly and fairly and are choosing not to. Go North East had offered a 10.3% pay rise, plus a guaranteed above-inflation pay increase next year too, but that proposal was rejected by 81% of workers who took part in a union ballot last week. Unite has pressed for a 13% increase, but has also complained that drivers at Go North West currently earn an hourly wage more than 20% higher than their North East counterparts.

The text is in a simple font and goes in a rhythm similar to what you would hear driving on the road. This makes sense because of how the entire book they are traveling in a yellow car. Sometimes the text is in a white section next to the pictures and sometimes it is on top of the pictures. When the text is laying over the illustrations it is harder to read. Workers in Newcastle and Sunderland need a pay rise of 20 percent to get the same as those in Manchester. Bus workers include drivers, engineers, maintenance workers and depot crews. Which services will be affected by the strike? The 1,300 strikers walked out for seven days on Saturday 30 September and another seven from last Saturday. There is mounting anger within the workforce over Unite’s handling of negotiations and their call for a continuous strike. Unite are literally rejecting a deal they themselves proposed. Wild and unfounded claims by the union of ‘paltry pay offers’, and false claims that the company are ‘not coming to the table’ don’t help”.

Go North East Minister calls for new talks to put an end to Go North East

Over 1,000 First Glasgow drivers are voting to strike over pay. The Unite members previously rejected a pay offer by 99 percent. We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners. The illustrations appear to be old paintings. The pictures seem to have a layered effect. The gentle sweeping by the car windows adds another deminsion as if you are truly looking through a glass window. The pictures that depict the South seem to be in a darker palette and the pictures depicting the North are much brighter. Go North East Update on Industrial Action - Go North East

Keep up to date with all the latest breaking news and top stories from the North East with our free newsletter Workers at Go North East began an indefinite walkout on Saturday, having overwhelmingly rejected a pay deal aimed at averting the shutdown. It has meant that all services run by the company, which describes itself as the biggest bus operator in the region, are cancelled until further notice. More than 1,300 workers from Go North East have voted for industrial action following "below-inflation offers". The mass walk out is expected to bring bus services in the region to a standstill.

The striker added, “The company doesn’t appreciate how much we put into the job, which is incredibly stressful from the moment you start. Go North East bus drivers and engineers were among those to begin an all-out seven day strike on Saturday as a pay dispute continues. Unite's General Secretary Sharon Graham has also added her support to the workers in the dispute, saying earlier this week that: " This is appalling behaviour from Go North East. The parent company is awash with cash and yet it is refusing to offer our members a decent pay rise in the middle of a cost of living crisis. This dispute and strike are entirely of Unite’s making. All we want is for the local union representatives to work constructively and collaboratively with us to secure the region’s bus services.

In response, Go North East business director Ben Maxfield said: "Our workforce is beside itself with worry, but instead of a constructive dialogue what we are seeing from the local Unite representatives is moving goal posts, U-turns and knee-jerk reactions, with no consideration of the impact on the travelling public." This is appalling behaviour from @gonortheast. The parent company is awash with cash and yet it is refusing to offer our members a decent pay rise in the middle of a cost of living crisis. But more and more now, I feel like I’m forced to take risks that make me uncomfortable because of the time pressures we’re under. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the ChronicleLive team. The depots that will be affected by the industrial action are: Consett, Gateshead, Hexham, Percy Main (North Shields), Sunderland and Washington. What has Unite and Go North East said about the move? The problem we have got is the offer is just totally derogatory. It wasn't acceptable. They wanted to be able to basically turn all of the depots against each other and start going to each individual depot going forward to change the terms and conditions of employment. We can't accept that, members can't accept that, we need a decent and fair pay rise with no strings attached." I have to work seven days a week just to try to make ends meet. Two of those days are overtime, but after tax, it’s pointless doing overtime. Strike action has been voted for by members of Britain's largest trade union Unite. The ballot was 98 per cent in favour of industrial action with nearly an 85 per cent turn out. One bus driver told Unite, “I’m struggling to pay my rent, to pay my council tax, to pay for the upkeep of my car that enables me to get to work in the first place.
