The aesthetic is utilitarian, inspired by public sector materials in the United Kingdom such as public information films and posters issued by the Central Office of Information and British Transport Films during the 1970s. Citizens didn't fear their annihilation; they quite looked forward to demonstrating their 'Dunkirk spirit' with the misguided belief that it would somehow bring the country together. Yes - but the hardback and Kindle editions of the book are both quite expensive, and given the paucity of actual content I think it's probably more sensible to simply read the blog.
