Zaragoza is also located near the confluence of the Ebro with the Gállego, a more voluminous left-bank tributary born in the Pyrenees. However, due to its location in a valley and far from the sea, the city is particularly prone to heat waves. It crosses the River Ebro from the old town to the more modern part, and offers one of the best views of the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
